Does Your Coffee Machine Need Servicing?
There are a few common signs that your coffee machine needs servicing. If you identify these symptoms early, you can prevent minor issues from developing further. After all, no one wants to have to repair or replace their coffee machine.
We've worked with coffee machines for years. Call us for expert advice on the maintenance of your machine.
6 Common signs that your coffee machine needs servicing:
1) Your coffee machine is pouring inconsistently:
If your coffee is pouring from your machine at different levels, we’d recommend replacing your filters and recalibrating your drink levels.
2) The handles on your coffee machine are not locking, or are too tight:
Again, this is an easy fix: Changing the internal seals of the machine should stop this from developing into a major issue.
3) The taste of my coffee is inconsistent:
If the taste of your coffee has changed or differs between cups, the group heads have probably developed layers of internal grime. A deep clean of the group heads should get your coffee tasting as it should.
4) Unusual sounds are coming from your coffee machine:
If your machine is making sounds that are different to what you’d normally expect, we’d recommend carrying out an internal inspection so that you can locate the source of the noise and fix it.
5) The pressure level on my coffee machine’s pressure gauge has changed:
If the pressure gauge is showing inconsistent readings, there is probably an issue developing on the inside of the coffee machine. We’d recommend a full internal inspection to discover the source of the issue.
6) I haven’t serviced my machine in the last 6 months:
We’d recommend servicing your machine every 12 months if you live in a soft water area or every 6 months if you live in a hard water area. Doing this prevents any major issues from developing.

Commercial Coffee Machine Descaling:
Scale is the build up of minerals within the hot sections of your commercial coffee machine; commonly referred to as lime scale. This is most common in hard water areas in some parts of the world that have a high lime content in their water. This will affect your boiler, the pumps and any parts that carry hot water. Usually the areas where the water sits still for a while, such as the boiler are worst affected.
Hard Water Locations In The UK:
If you are located in one of the areas in red above, then you are at the highest risk for a build-up of lime scale in your coffee machine. The build-up of lime scale will slow the water flow, reduce your boiler capacity and if left will eventually prevent your coffee machine working. Some boilers can end up with so much scale that they have heating problems. The two main factors are the quality of your water and the amount of water running through the machine.
